This era of unflattering video calls is the perfect time to consider facial enhancement procedures that can create a lifted, youthful appearance.

Facial EnhancementThere are numerous procedures and treatments that a board-certified plastic surgeon can implement to improve aesthetics for the face. Some that can make the most impact include treatments or surgeries that address the forehead, cheeks, lips and chin. Here’s a breakdown of some of the options available:

  • Brow lift: Also known as a forehead lift, a brow lift can reduce wrinkles, improve frown lines and raise sagging skin that hood the eyebrows. There are several types of procedures, each with resulting goals of a smoother forehead and eyes that look more open and bright. Brow lifts can be performed in different ways. Some surgeons prefer an endoscope, which involves specialized instruments that adjust tissue and muscle through small incisions made under the hairline. Another option for women with very high foreheads is for your surgeon to perform a brow lift with the incision at the hairline so as not to elevate any further.
  • Cheek volume: Sculpted cheeks are the epitome of beauty, but cheeks flatten and the overlying skin sags during the aging process. Injectable gel fillers are the most common option to correct this type of age-related volume loss and regain the high cheekbones of youth. The fillers add volume under the skin’s surface providing lift and contouring the cheek area.
  • Lip Augmentation: Fillers also are a possible solution to address lips that have thinned with age. Implants and collagen or fat injections are also possible treatments to plump lips and return them to a more youthful look. The results can be permanent or temporary depending on the treatment or procedure.
  • Chin Augmentation: The chin and jawline are among the first areas to show aging and have an important impact on how the face is perceived. As a result, the number of chin augmentations skyrocketed earlier in the decade, according to statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. However, with the introduction of long-term fillers, many patients are pleased with their results and that treatment can be performed non-invasively. Chin surgery, or mentoplasty, reshapes the chin either with an implant or with reduction surgery on the bone to create an overall harmonious appearance of the profile. Men and women, old and young, elect for this procedure to improve proportions of the face. Often, chin surgery is recommended for patients having rhinoplasty as the size of the chin may impact the perceived size of the nose.
