Throughout pregnancy a woman’s abdomen transforms through the stretching of muscles and skin as the baby grows. Breasts enlarge and then get even bigger with breast feeding. Unfortunately, this stretching can create havoc on a woman’s ability to regain her taut, pre-baby body shape no matter how much exercise and dieting she does.
The combination of cosmetic procedures performed in a “mommy makeover” typically includes procedures to restore the appearance of the breasts and tummy. These are the areas of the body that tend to suffer the most after pregnancy; hence, the term “mommy makeover”. Your plastic surgeon’s goal will be to restore your body to its pre-pregnancy shape utilizing two or more of these procedures performed in a single surgery or multiple staged surgery.
- Breast Augmentation
- Breast Lift
- Breast Reduction
- Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
- Circumferential Abdominoplasty
- Liposuction
The surgical plan may include breast augmentation, breast lift or breast reduction or a combination of these procedures as well as a tummy tuck procedure and/or liposuction to address the abdomen and flanks. It is not always possible or advisable to correct every issue with one surgery; therefore, your surgeon may suggest a staged surgical approach to achieve your goals.
It is important to understand what can and cannot be achieved with these procedures as well as the trade-offs and risks associated with each. Your best course of action is to schedule a cosmetic consultation with a highly trained, board-certified plastic surgeon who will tailor a treatment plan specifically for your body. The Dallas Society of Plastic Surgeons has 70 members throughout the Dallas area including Collin, Rockwall, Denton, and Tarrant counties.
